Style and Design class overview

Style and Design is a hands-on course where I completed challenging design assignments and online activities that helped me develop skills in Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, and foundational public relations and marketing strategies. Throughout the semester, I learned how traditional PR practices connect with core principles of graphic design and the production process, with social media used as a supportive tool rather than the main focus. These experiences built my practical design abilities and led into my final project: a fully developed digital portfolio on a WordPress site I designed myself. Overall, this course helped me gain a strong understanding of the PR writing process while building essential skills in graphic design, website design without needing to become a coder or programmer. I’ve learned how to use Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and other Creative Cloud programs to create polished graphics, layouts, and visual content for real projects.

I created my graphic using Adobe Express, where I uploaded my group’s photo and used its tools to design my own version of the content.

Design Principles.

I used Adobe Express, designing a piece that explained key PR design principles like balance, hierarchy, typography, and layout in a way that matched my assigned audience and concept.

I used Adobe Photoshop for this graphic and learned how to make a banner with shape layers and layer styles.
